Project Engineer

Position Summary The purpose of this position is to plan and perform work requiring sound technical/business judgment in the evaluation, organization, and execution of project management assignments worldwide. This senior role oversees and coordinates project activities to ensure compliance with contracts and deliver safety, quality, value, timeliness, and profitability for Fluor projects. The position may encompass responsibilities of Project Engineer, Area Project Manager, or Engineering Manager across large, medium, and complex project segments under direction from senior project leadership. Responsibilities Monitor progress, prepare procedures, document communications and meetings, and identify/evaluate project issues and problems. Collaborate in management and coordination of activities among all project functions and engineering disciplines according to established baseline documents. Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional organization managers and subcontractors. Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules; monitor activities, progress, and milestones against the plans. Support creation and coordination of project effort hours, cost estimates, and budgets; monitor progress and cost performance. Coordinate between design, procurement, material management, and construction on technical and schedule requirements. Assist the Project Director/Project Manager in developing required documentation to communicate contractual and technical issues, status, and progress reports; conduct/coordinate related meetings as necessary. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications 4‑year Bachelor’s degree required. 10–15 years of experience in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/management (EPFC/CM) industry. Minimum of one successful construction and/or commissioning field assignment. Experience executing and managing risk assessment initiatives. Understanding of procedures and interfaces on projects. Experience in international locations and diverse cultural environments recommended. Successful performance in a project engineering position on at least two medium or large sized projects. Proficiency with Fluor’s software tools and databases. Strong interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills. Analytical approach to problem solving and identifying potential solutions. Basic computer skills: word processing, email, spreadsheets, electronic presentations, and project management tools. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated ability to initiate and nurture solid relationships with clients, vendors, and suppliers. Proactive in taking prompt and appropriate action to ensure objectives are met and follow-up on progress. Innovative thinking and ability to generate alternative strategies or approaches to work problems and opportunities. Certification in project management suggested (e.g., Project Management Professional). Compensation $130,000 - $160,000 (range is a good-faith estimate and may vary based on responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and market data).
