Compliance (Conflicts) Analyst

Norton Rose Fulbright is seeking a Compliance Analyst to join our team. The US Compliance Team currently includes the Deputy General Counsel, two Assistant Deputy General Counsels, three Counsel and Senior Managers, as well as a team of Compliance Lawyers, Senior Compliance Analysts, Compliance Analysts and Client/Matter Intake Analysts. This position requires a self‑starter who can become proficient in understanding and using the conflicts of interest database to perform the firm's conflict checks. Candidates must have excellent research and strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. The Compliance Analyst should consistently exercise discretion and independent judgement. Responsibilities Ensure exemplary client service to all internal and external clients; proactively promote client service throughout the department and among teams; respond to peer requests with recognition that the request serves a client or firm need. Respond to lawyer and staff requests to perform conflicts of interest searches. Review information submitted by lawyers and support staff for completion and accuracy; follow up as needed to clarify information. Research corporate history of clients and parties; search websites for information about corporate affiliations such as parent or subsidiary relationships. Use Boolean searching and search terms to query the conflicts database. Apply judgment to design effective database searches and distinguish relevant results from irrelevant ones. Review generated conflict reports for relevancy and relatedness based on the submitted information and identify potential conflict issues. Independently analyze reports with limited guidance. Work closely with the assigned Compliance Attorney to ensure the compliance workflow is as accurate and efficient as possible. Summarize the basis for potential conflicts and communicate any potential conflicts to the assigned Compliance Attorney. Develop familiarity with the Global Practice Standards program and policies and answer inquiries regarding share dealings and related issues. Safeguard and keep confidential any information, observations or viewpoints regarding firm business matters. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. Qualifications and experience Bachelor’s degree. One year of conflicts or legal assistant experience (or similar analyst experience in a decision‑making capacity) required. Excellent oral and written business communication skills; prior exposure to international business correspondence is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong analytical skills. Willingness to learn law and fundamental principles regarding conflict of interest issues and strong issue‑spotting skills are essential. Ability to keep confidential any information, observations or viewpoints regarding firm business matters. Proven stability and calm demeanor with the ability to handle stressful situations with confidence and composure. Solid knowledge of world geography. Strong sense of urgency and prioritization and the ability to recognize when to seek guidance. Proficient Microsoft Office Suite user. Salary and benefits Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The full‑time base annual salary for this position in the Chicago, Denver, Minneapolis, New York, and Washington, DC markets is expected to range between $60,000 and $90,000. Salaries in other markets will vary depending on market data. Bonus opportunities are non‑guaranteed and are dependent upon individual and firm performance. Full‑time employees are eligible to access fertility benefits designed to support fertility and family‑forming journeys. In addition to the firm’s health and welfare benefits above, we offer a competitive paid time off plan, which provides a minimum of 20 days off based on role and tenure. The firm offers a generous paid parental leave benefit allowing parents to take a minimum of 14 weeks of paid leave to bond with their newborn or adopted child(ren). Employees are also entitled to 11 firm holidays.
