Respiratory Therapy Extern, PRN

Job Summary The Respiratory Therapy Extern, PRN (945095) will provide respiratory care to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies under the supervision of a licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist. The position is open to senior semester students enrolled in accredited respiratory care baccalaureate or associate degree programs. Experience and Education Education Most recent unofficial transcript with a 3.0 GPA, a recommendation letter from a clinical instructor, and a completed online application. Experience Resume detailing work experience, professional organization involvement, and volunteer history. Licenses and Certifications BLS (BASIC LIFE SUPPORT) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, obtained upon hire. Job Duties Receive competency assessments until competent to perform specific respiratory care functions independently. Perform routine respiratory care activities such as aerosol therapy, MDI, DPI, airway clearance, lung expansion, oxygen therapy, and non‑invasive ventilation, and educate patients. Set up and operate various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Report any changes in patient condition to assigned preceptor, campus supervisor, or assistant manager immediately. Request assistance or guidance as needed to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care. Respond to patient requests for assistance in a respectful, positive, and timely manner. Document patient information accurately and promptly. Assume accountability for all workplace actions and report errors promptly. Maintain patient confidentiality when questioned by visitors or the public. Coordinate schedules to seek learning opportunities and demonstrate knowledge. Utilize downtime to assist respiratory therapists and medical staff. Perform other duties as requested.
