Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Caterpillar equipment at the mine siteRead and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics to ensure accurate repairsUse Caterpillar software systems (ET, SIS, STW) to complete diagnostics and service documentationCommunicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding repair status, recommendations, and warranty determinationsMaintain accurate, legible service reports and daily truck and crane inspection logsEnsure proper safety practices and compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulationsMaintain all tooling and equipment in a safe and operational conditionSafely operate and drive service truck (Class A CDL required)Support and mentor junior technicians as neededWork schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM; hours may vary depending on customer needs. Overtime is expected and may be frequent.Travel up to 75% may be required based on job needsOther duties as assigned by manager Required Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED5+ years of experience working on heavy equipment (Caterpillar preferred)3+ years of experience performing diagnostics and repairs on highway trucks3+ years of experience working on mining equipment such as mills, and crushing and screening systemsValid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) – RequiredMSHA Certification (or ability to obtain prior to hire)Completion of CAT-specific courses or equivalent technical trainingProficient with diagnostic software tools: CAT ET, SIS Web, and STW3+ years of customer service experienceBasic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and DBSMust be a resident of the Gypsum area or willing to relocate Core Competencies: Strong knowledge of CAT equipment, diagnostics, and repair proceduresAbility to work independently with minimal supervision in a field environmentExcellent problem-solving and organizational skillsClear and professional communication skills, both written and verbalHigh regard for safety and quality standards Physical Demands & Competencies: Standing, walking, talking, sitting, use of hands & hearingData Entry, telephone, reading/writing, reasoning, organizational, communication & math skillsSafety & Product KnowledgeAscending or descending ladders, stairs, etc.Heavy work that includes lifting and/or moving objects up to 100 pounds or moreIntermediate Knowledge of DBSIntermediate Knowledge of ET/SIS/SIS Web/STWAbility to work independently with little or no directionWell-rounded knowledge of CAT equipment Work Environment: Noise: LoudIndoors and Outdoors Other Duties: Job Offers are contingent upon all required pre-employment screenings which may include but are not limited to background checks, drug/alcohol testing, fit for duty testing, and any other job-related tests/screeningsPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
