It is one of the firm's most important and active areas, with a substantial docket involving injured seamen, offshore workers, vessel-related accidents, and other complex maritime matters. Our attorneys work in a true litigation environment where cases are actively developed, litigated, and prepared with trial in mind.

Continued demand within the maritime practice has created an opportunity for an experienced Maritime & Jones Act Litigation Attorney who already understands this specialized area of law and can step into an active docket.

Job Details

The Opportunity:
We are seeking an attorney with genuine maritime and/or Jones Act litigation experience who can quickly take ownership within a busy plaintiff-side practice.

This is not the right environment for someone who needs extensive training in the fundamentals of maritime law. The strongest candidate will already understand the unique issues involved in Jones Act and general maritime claims and will be comfortable independently advancing cases.

What You'll Do:

• Manage maritime and Jones Act matters through active litigation.
• Develop case strategy and evaluate liability, damages, seaman status, and other maritime-specific issues.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, responses, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Manage written discovery, document production, experts, records, and evidence.
• Communicate directly with clients throughout the litigation process.
• Prepare for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials.
• Work closely with paralegals and support staff to manage deadlines and move cases forward.
• Handle matters involving maritime injuries, offshore accidents, vessel incidents, wrongful death, and other complex plaintiff litigation.
• Maintain ownership of deadlines and priorities while managing a significant caseload.

What We're Looking For:

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active law license in good standing.
• Meaningful hands-on Jones Act, maritime, or admiralty litigation experience.
• Plaintiff-side maritime or personal injury litigation experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of discovery, depositions, motion practice, and litigation procedure.
• Ability to independently manage and advance a caseload.
• Strong writing, analytical, and client communication skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-expectation litigation environment.
• Texas licensure strongly preferred.
• Louisiana, Gulf Coast, federal court, or additional maritime-related admissions are a plus.

Location: Houston, Texas

Compensation: Competitive and based on experience; specific range to be confirmed.
