Clinical Engineering Cybersecurity Specialist

BELEN Network is recruiting for a Clinical Engineering Cybersecurity Specialist to support medical device security within a hospital environment.

This role is focused on protecting connected medical devices, strengthening cybersecurity controls, responding to vulnerabilities, and partnering with healthcare technology, IT, and information security teams.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with biomedical or clinical engineering environments and understands how cybersecurity requirements apply to medical devices and healthcare technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and lead medical device cybersecurity initiatives across hospital and clinical environments
• Maintain cybersecurity-related asset information and manufacturer documentation within a CMMS
• Perform medical device risk assessments using available technical and cybersecurity data
• Help ensure medical devices are configured according to security standards and manufacturer guidance
• Coordinate vulnerability remediation, including patching, upgrades, and response to emerging or zero-day threats
• Investigate cybersecurity alerts affecting medical devices and recommend appropriate corrective action
• Work with device manufacturers, hospital IT, and information security teams to resolve cybersecurity concerns
• Support testing and validation of network segmentation and other technical safeguards
• Track remediation activity and provide reporting on vulnerabilities, risks, and corrective actions
• Identify opportunities to improve cybersecurity processes across Healthcare Technology Management and IT
• Support cybersecurity education and awareness for biomedical and clinical engineering personnel
• Provide guidance during healthcare cybersecurity and regulatory audits

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience in medical device cybersecurity, clinical engineering, biomedical equipment, healthcare technology management, or a closely related field
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience
• Biomedical or medical device experience
• Healthcare cybersecurity experience
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices as they relate to connected medical devices
• Experience with CMMS platforms
• Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST or ISO
• Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance requirements, including FDA guidance, HIPAA, and Joint Commission standards
• Experience with vulnerability management, patching, cybersecurity risk assessments, and incident response
• Ability to work collaboratively with IT, information security, clinical engineering, and external manufacturers
• Strong documentation, analysis, and communication skills
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant cybersecurity certifications are preferred, including:

• CISSP
• HCISPP
• CEH
• Security+
• Comparable healthcare or cybersecurity credentials

Additional experience with network segmentation, secure medical device configuration, vulnerability management, and medical device manufacturer coordination is also valuable.
