HR Generalist

Overview We are seeking a people-focused and service-oriented HR Generalist to serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and support a broad range of human resources initiatives. The role will partner closely with employees, managers, recruiters, and People team members to deliver an exceptional employee experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle. This position is part of 23andMe Research Institute, a nonprofit medical research organization dedicated to genetic discovery. What You’ll Do Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions regarding policies and general HR matters. Respond to employee inquiries in a timely, professional, and customer-service-oriented manner. Maintain employee records and ensure HR systems and documentation remain accurate and up to date. Assist with HR communications, policy updates, and employee programs. Coordinate and facilitate new hire onboarding activities to ensure a smooth and positive employee experience. Prepare and process new hires and system setup, partnering with hiring managers and cross-functional teams to meet onboarding milestones. Help manage employee offboarding processes, including exit interviews, separation documentation, system access coordination, and final employee communications. Partner closely with Recruiting Partners to coordinate candidate interviews and scheduling across multiple stakeholders. Assist with offer preparation, pre-employment processes, and onboarding transitions. Help maintain recruiting records and support hiring initiatives as needed. Assist with employee engagement initiatives, organizational changes, talent planning, and performance processes. Help identify trends and recommend solutions to improve employee experience and organizational effectiveness. What You’ll Bring Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist, coordinator, or people operations role. Experience supporting onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes. Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Pay Transparency Salary range for San Francisco Bay Area: $100,000—$130,000 USD. The starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
