Commercial Underwriter (Floorplan)

Position Overview

Atrium is seeking on behalf of our client a Commercial Underwriter of floorplan lending to evaluate and structure complex inventory-based lending facilities, ensuring sound credit decisions and risk management practices. This role partners closely with originations, senior leadership, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality underwriting and portfolio management. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed credit memoranda for large dealer relationships, analyzing cash flow, liquidity, leverage, and collateral.
• Perform in-depth cash flow analysis using financial spreading tools and underwriting models.
• Structure complex revolving inventory/asset-based lending facilities and recommend covenants and risk mitigants.
• Issue credit decisions within delegated authority (up to $10MM) per internal policy.
• Lead and support transactions $10MM+, collaborating with originations and leadership.
• Interpret financial statements and tax returns to assess liquidity, leverage, and profitability.
• Review legal documentation and UCC filings to ensure collateral perfection.
• Complete special reviews such as increases, overlines, and covenant triggers.
• Communicate with internal teams, auditors, and external partners to meet deadlines.
• Prepare and deliver presentations to executives and credit committees.

Required Experience/Skills

• 5+ years in commercial lending, underwriting, or financial analysis; floor plan lending required.
• Experience underwriting and managing $10MM+ transactions.
• Strong knowledge of asset-based lending and inventory finance structures.
• Advanced financial analysis skills, including spreading statements and ratio evaluation.
• Familiarity with regulated lending environments and audit processes.
• Excellent written credit narrative and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and DocuSign.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required.
• Advanced degree (MBA) or professional certifications (CFA, CPA) preferred.
