Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit WUNC Radio provides quality news, information and entertainment programming to a broad listening audience that includes North Carolina, the United States and the world. WUNC serves North Carolinians from Greensboro to the Outer Banks through a network of ten stations. Position Summary The Due South Producer creates and produces content for Due South, WUNC’s daily news and public affairs program, which includes interviews, analysis, and features on a variety of subjects (news, politics, culture, etc.) of interest in North Carolina. Primary responsibilities for this position include selecting and researching show topics, pre-interviewing and booking guests, writing scripts and promotional materials, and editing audio recordings for broadcasts. The Due South Producer will also create content for digital and social media platforms, participate in fundraising activities and station events, may occasionally fill-in for the Executive Producer, and other duties as assigned. The Due South Producer reports to the Executive Producer and works in collaboration with the co-hosts and producer colleagues. The team will actively work to ensure that a diversity of stories and participants are selected for production, and that our content is relevant and accessible to diverse audiences. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. This experience may be related to the direction/oversight of programs that focus the academic and research resources of a higher education institution towards community or regional issues.
