Principal Data Systems Software Engineer - SRE

Salary: $114,600 - 234,600 per year Requirements:

• You are a U.S. citizen and currently hold and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
• You have at least 7 years of production engineering experience; distributed services or cloud platform experience is preferred.
• You have proven automation experience and strong scripting skills in a language such as Bash or Python.
• You have a solid understanding of software engineering and computer science principles, Linux systems engineering, networking, security, and storage.
• You have experience with Docker and an understanding of Infrastructure as Code.
• You have experience with Terraform and/or Ansible.
• You have built fully automated CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, or TeamCity.
• You can identify and develop meaningful KPIs and business metrics.
• Experience building, managing, or operating cloud services with AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI is a plus.
• You bring broad knowledge across networking, Linux systems engineering, software engineering and automation, and distributed systems; specialist expertise is also valued.
• You are technically strong, curious, autonomous, and motivated to improve processes and services.

• Operate and support production cloud services that power customer migration and data replication workloads.
• Monitor service health, investigate incidents, and lead troubleshooting for complex production issues.
• Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-incident reviews, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex or critical issues not yet covered by standard operating procedures.
• Partner with software development teams to improve service architecture, reliability, scalability, and operational readiness.
• Design and implement automation to reduce operational overhead and improve service efficiency.
• Build and maintain observability solutions, including monitoring, alerting, logging, dashboards, and operational metrics.
• Contribute to capacity planning, performance analysis, disaster recovery readiness, and service resilience.
• Support services across Oracle Cloud commercial and sovereign cloud environments.
• Use Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices to improve deployment consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Drive continuous service improvement through operational reviews, reliability initiatives, and engineering best practices.
• Develop a deep understanding of the services and technologies and help shape the service roadmap.
