Job Description

This role oversees daily maintenance operations in a high-volume manufacturing facility. The Maintenance Supervisor leads a team of maintenance technicians and production associates, ensures equipment and buildings operate reliably, and actively supports safe, efficient production. This is a hands-on position that requires frequent work on the production floor rather than a desk-based focus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of approximately 5 maintenance technicians and over 30 production associates to ensure smooth, efficient operations across the facility.

• Assign, coordinate, and assist with repair and maintenance tasks to keep all production equipment and building systems operating reliably.

• Work hands-on on the production floor to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, including troubleshooting PLCs and reading schematics and blueprints.

• Plan, oversee, and participate in preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.

• Enforce safety rules and promote a strong safety culture by ensuring all team members follow established procedures and guidelines.

• Monitor equipment performance, identify recurring issues, and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and efficiency.

• Support production teams by responding promptly to maintenance requests and ensuring minimal disruption to high-volume manufacturing operations.

• Use basic computer applications such as Word, Excel, and related tools to document maintenance activities, track work orders, and communicate effectively.

• Provide clear direction, coaching, and support to team members, fostering accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

• Collaborate with other departments and leadership to prioritize maintenance work, align on production goals, and support operational objectives.

• Ensure compliance with facility standards, union guidelines, and operational procedures while maintaining a clean, organized work environment.

Essential Skills

• At least 3+ years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

• Hands-on maintenance technician experience with strong mechanical and electrical skills.

• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.

• Proven experience managing and supervising people in a production or maintenance setting.

• Background in high-volume manufacturing operations.

• Experience with preventive maintenance planning and execution.

• Strong communication skills to coordinate with technicians, production associates, and leadership.

• Ability to use basic computer applications such as Word, Excel, and similar tools for documentation and reporting.

• Demonstrated ability to enforce safety rules and promote a safe working environment.

• Capability to work hands-on on the floor, including troubleshooting and repairing equipment in a fast-paced setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in food and beverage industrial manufacturing environments.

• Familiarity with maintenance management practices in unionized facilities.

• Comfort working on a third-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 10:30 pm to 6:30 am.

Work Environment

This position is based in a dairy manufacturing facility that produces milk, cottage cheese, and sour cream. The role operates on a third-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 10:30 pm to 6:30 am . The environment is a high-volume production setting where you will spend most of your time on the floor rather than at a desk. You will work closely with maintenance technicians and production associates, using mechanical and electrical tools, PLCs, schematics, and blueprints to maintain and repair equipment. The facility is a union environment with established procedures, safety rules, and operational standards. You can expect a fast-paced atmosphere that requires hands-on problem solving, adherence to safety practices, and coordination with multiple teams to keep equipment and building systems running smoothly.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $41.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
