Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give veterinary students valuable hands‑on clinical experience and exposure to the day‑to‑day operations of a practice. Each NVA hospital is unique, but all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and the people who love them. Responsibilities Gather patient histories, perform physical exams, and create treatment plans. Conduct diagnostics and dentistry services. Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures. Manage medical care of patients. Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Eligibility Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible to participate. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to enroll. Stipend Students receive a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for Carriage Animal Hospital is $1,500.
