Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Clinical Decision Unit position in Asheville, NC, requiring telemetry competency and at least 2 years of experience.

Details

• 13-week travel contract with day shift hours of 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• 20-bed inpatient overflow unit serving a mixed level of care, including medical-surgical and step-down patients
• Specializes in short-stay patients with a length of stay under 24 hours, with quick patient turnover
• Patient ratios are 1:5, with a stretch to 1:6 dependent on level of care
• All patients requiring telemetry monitoring are hardwired to bedside monitors
• EMR: Cerner
• Every other weekend is required; no on-call responsibilities
• Travelers may be required to float to other units as needed

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for PCU RNs
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical RN experience in progressive care
• Telemetry competency required
• Progressive care experience required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if from Florida or Missouri)

Additional Information

• Provide step-down and medical-surgical level nursing care within a fast-paced, high-turnover overflow unit
• Day shift staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 4 RNs, and 2 CNAs
• Scrub colors: navy and/or white top, navy bottom, or all white
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
