Job Description
This role focuses on transforming raw wood materials into high-quality finished products, including items such as newel posts and floating shelves. You will work on both high-volume production runs and one-of-a-kind custom pieces, using a variety of woodworking tools and techniques to cut, shape, sand, and assemble wood components into completed products.
Responsibilities
- Take raw wood materials and accurately cut, shape, and prepare them for production using tools such as miter saws, planers, routers, and table saws.
- Produce a wide range of wood products, including newel posts, floating shelves, and other components, ensuring consistency and quality across both large production runs and individual custom pieces.
- Measure materials precisely with a tape measure and mark cuts and layouts to meet specified dimensions and design requirements.
- Operate woodworking equipment safely and efficiently, including miter saws, planers, routers, and other shop tools, following all safety procedures and best practices.
- Sand and finish wood surfaces to achieve smooth, professional results suitable for final assembly or installation.
- Hand assemble cut and prepared wood components into finished products, ensuring proper fit, structural integrity, and clean workmanship.
- Perform basic equipment checks and maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient production.
- Follow production instructions, work orders, and quality standards to meet deadlines and output goals for both long runs and one-off projects.
- Collaborate with team members in the woodshop to coordinate workflow, share tools and workspace, and support overall production efficiency.
- Proven ability to work with raw wood materials and convert them into finished products using standard woodworking techniques.
- Experience using a tape measure accurately to mark and verify dimensions for cutting and assembly.
- Hands-on experience operating miter saws, planers, routers, and table saws to cut and shape wood components.
- Ability to perform sanding and surface preparation to achieve smooth, finished wood surfaces.
- Skill in hand tool use for assembly and fine adjustments, including basic hand woodworking tools.
- Capability to assemble wood components by hand into complete products, maintaining quality and structural integrity.
- Comfort working in a production environment with both high-volume runs and one-off custom pieces.
- Basic understanding of woodworking safety practices and safe operation of shop equipment.
- Experience as a woodworker in a professional woodshop environment is highly beneficial.
- Background in production work, manufacturing, or assembly is valuable for candidates focused on production duties.
- Ability to read and follow basic work instructions, measurements, and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.
- Reliability and ability to manage time effectively in a flexible scheduling environment.
- Willingness to learn new woodworking techniques and adapt to different product types and production runs.
You will join a shop that offers genuine scheduling flexibility, allowing you to start your day as early as 6:30 a.m. or later in the morning around 8 a.m. You can choose between four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days, supporting a better work-life balance. The environment values practical skills, steady work, and the opportunity to grow your woodworking and production experience while contributing to a variety of projects.
Work Environment
You will work in a dedicated woodshop environment that is equipped with miter saws, planers, routers, table saws, and other standard woodworking tools and equipment. The setting is hands-on and production-oriented, involving both large-scale runs and individual custom pieces. Expect a typical shop atmosphere with active machinery, wood dust, and physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and moving materials throughout the day. Hours are flexible, with the shop opening at 6:30 a.m. and options to work four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts, allowing you to align your schedule with your personal preferences.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brooten, MN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
