Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring at least 2 years of experience and current AWHONN Intermediate certification.

Details

• Labor & Delivery unit with 100-200 births per month
• Patient ratios of 1:2 for Labor, 1:3 for Antepartum, and 1:3 for Mother/Baby
• Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 18:00-6:00
• Epic charting system used
• High-risk antepartum and high-risk delivery care provided
• Handles circulating and scrubbing duties for C-sections
• Performs fetal monitoring including external and internal methods, spiral electrode placement, and IUPC placement/calibration

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in labor and delivery management, high-risk delivery assistance, hemorrhage/shock response, and postpartum care
• Experience with fetal heart rate pattern recognition and treatment preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages
• Support high-risk deliveries and manage complications such as postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Assist with neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and thermoregulation
• Provide newborn care including discharge teaching, cord care, and metabolic screening
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Travel pairs or groups will not be accepted
• Previous staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility, or in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be accepted
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of consideration, with no more than 3 days auto-approved and none permitted during the first week of orientation
