About the Role

A Washington, DC-based financial institution is hiring a Director of Cloud and Infrastructure to lead the design, implementation, and management of cloud and hybrid infrastructure strategy.

What You’ll Do

Technical

• Design and maintain cloud/SaaS solutions across AWS, Azure, or GCP, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security
• Lead full lifecycle management of cloud-hosted infrastructure services across on-premises and cloud workloads
• Drive adoption of a hybrid cloud model - document, iterate, and refine the architecture
• Implement automation, root-cause analysis, and operational metrics to maximize uptime and reduce cost
• Develop and maintain cloud architecture models, roadmaps, and proofs-of-concept aligned to business goals
• Own Disaster Recovery strategy for critical systems, eliminating single points of failure
• Partner with Cybersecurity to define and integrate baseline cloud security standards
• Architect and implement Microsoft-centric solutions: Azure, O365, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Dynamics
• Assess and optimize O365 configurations; identify opportunities for capability enablement and automation
• Manage patch and vulnerability remediation across infrastructure platforms
• Support regulatory exams, internal audits, and risk assessments; lead remediation of findings
• Manage third-party vendor relationships, contracts, and SLAs

Organizational

• Advise leadership on digital-first strategy
• Collaborate across Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Enterprise Application Support teams

Leadership

• Hire, train, and develop team members; provide regular performance feedback and coaching
• Manage CapEx/OpEx budgets with a focus on cloud cost optimization and the shift to OpEx
• Build and present cloud business proposals and ROI studies
• Drive operational efficiency through planning, project management, and data-driven decisions
• Guide the team through organizational change with clarity and adaptability

Preferred Experience

• 8+ years in infrastructure and enterprise architecture with hands-on operational experience
• 5+ years leading cloud transformation projects (data center to cloud/SaaS migrations)
• 6+ years in cloud computing environments (infrastructure, storage, platforms, data)
• 6+ years with AWS and Azure; data migration experience strongly preferred
• 6+ years with Microsoft Dynamics (CRM)
• 6+ years of hands-on SRE experience; deep understanding of SLA/SLO/RTO/RPO
• 6+ years deploying IT infrastructure solutions
• 3+ years in governance, risk, and compliance (NCUA Part 748, FFIEC, or similar) — preferred
• Proficiency in at least one scripting/programming language (Java, Python, or Go)
• Familiarity with EA principles and methodologies
• Strong communication skills; comfortable presenting to C-level stakeholders

Certifications (one or more preferred)

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect
• IBM Certified Solution Architect – Cloud Computing Infrastructure v3
