Parking Attendant

Job Summary

We are seeking Parking Attendants for a temporary election support assignment in the Charleston, SC area. This role is ideal for dependable, customer-focused individuals who enjoy working with the public and supporting smooth, organized community operations.

As a Parking Attendant, you will help direct voters, election staff, and site traffic to designated parking areas while maintaining a safe, welcoming, and nonpartisan environment. This is a great opportunity to contribute to an important public event, work as part of a coordinated site team, and provide helpful assistance to community members throughout the voting process.

Key Responsibilities

- Direct voters and election staff to designated parking areas while supporting safe and efficient traffic flow.
- Assist voters with locating polling site entrances and provide general directions as needed.
- Monitor parking areas, including designated ADA parking spaces, to help ensure accessibility.
- Guide vehicle traffic during peak voting periods to minimize congestion and delays.
- Coordinate with election officials, law enforcement, and site personnel to maintain orderly operations.
- Report safety hazards, traffic incidents, or operational concerns to supervisors promptly.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $15.00 per hour.
- Schedule: 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM.
- Assignment dates: October 19 to October 24 and October 26 to October 31.
- Locations: Various Charleston-area locations, including Mount Pleasant, West Ashley, North Charleston, James Island, Downtown Charleston, Johns Island, and Hollywood.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- No prior experience is required; candidates simply need to be comfortable working in a Parking Attendant role and assisting with parking and traffic flow as needed.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to remain professional, courteous, and nonpartisan when interacting with the public.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods during the scheduled shift.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality for assigned dates and times.
- Ability to follow instructions, parking guidelines, and site safety procedures.
- Comfortable coordinating with election officials, law enforcement, and facility personnel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

- Familiarity with Charleston-area communities and major roads.
- Ability to stay calm and helpful during high-traffic or busy public events.
