Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering (Louisville)

ABOUT THIS POSITIONWe are seeking a Senior Manager of Systems Engineering to lead the design, automation, and delivery of our on‑premises datacenter infrastructure. This role oversees teams responsible for compute, storage, virtualization, and core systems, with a strong focus on automation, standardization, and project execution. Cloud experience is a plus, but the primary focus is on on‑prem infrastructure excellence.WHAT YOU'LL DOLead teams operating and modernizing on‑prem datacenter platforms, including VMware and/or Nutanix environments.Own reliability, scalability, and lifecycle management of compute, storage, and core infrastructure systems.Drive automation across provisioning, configuration, patching, and platform operations.Lead infrastructure initiatives such as datacenter upgrades, hardware refreshes, platform migrations, and modernization efforts.Partner with architecture, security, networking, and application teams to deliver projects with minimal operational impact.Develop and mentor engineering leaders, fostering accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.Provide clear communication on risks, priorities, and delivery progress to senior leadership.WHAT YOU'LL NEED8+ years of systems or infrastructure engineering experience in on‑prem datacenter environments.3+ years of people management experience leading managers and/or senior engineers.Strong experience with VMware and/or Nutanix platforms and enterprise storage systems.Proven success driving automation and infrastructure modernization.Experience leading complex infrastructure projects end to end.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.PreferredExperience supporting hybrid environments or integrating with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure).Familiarity with automation and infrastructure‑as‑code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Python).Experience in regulated or high‑availability environments.ABOUT WAYSTARThrough a smart platform and better experience, Waystar helps providers simplify healthcare payments and yield powerful results throughout the complete revenue cycle.Waystar’s healthcare payments platform combines innovative, cloud-based technology, robust data, and unparalleled client support to streamline workflows and improve financials so providers can focus on what matters most: their patients and communities.
