Job Summary

Overview

The Street Maintenance Worker performs a variety un-skilled and low-skilled strenuous labor duties assisting in the cleaning, maintenance, care, and repair of streets, facilities, utilities, aviation grounds, public spaces, landscaping, and park grounds.

Essential Functions

1 Performs a wide range of low skilled strenuous labor for the streets maintenance activities within the City; assists with the setting of forms, mixing and pouring of concrete, spreading and laying of asphalt or spreading crack seal for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, curbs and gutters or streets; operates air/jack hammer to break out old concrete or asphalt when making repairs.

2 Assists in laying various pipes for storm or sanitary sewers, drains or water mains to ensure proper flow is maintained; loads and unloads tools, construction materials, and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are available for repairs to be made.

3 Flags traffic and sets out barricades, cones, or other safety devices to help ensure the safety of the crew and the

public; loads and unloads tools, construction material and equipment onto trucks to ensure necessary tools are

available for repairs to be made.

4 Assist in cleaning drainage ditches, inlets, storm drains and sewer lines using various power operated equipment to remove debris or stoppage.

5 Drives equipment to transport tools, equipment, supplies or material to and from the work sites and locations; cuts grass, removes litter and weeds, cleans floors and facility grounds to maintain upkeep of facility, street medians, and vacant lots removing any hazards and ensuring safety of tenants.

6 Performs preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operating conditions.

7 Provides quality customer service and competent public interaction.

8 Performs any and all other work as required or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of equipment and tools used in various construction repairs.

2 Maintaining and operating hand and power tools.

3 Knowledge of standard colors, configuration, and placement of lane markings and traffic signs

4 Knowledge and understanding of safety procedures

5 Ability to read and write,

6 Understanding and following drawings, designs, and other oral or written instructions

7 Ability to perform labor for extended periods of time.

8 Establishing and maintaining strong relationships.

9 Understanding traffic laws and streets maintenance activities.

Licenses and Certifications

Must have Texas class C license and must obtain CDL - Group B - Commercial Driver's License within probation period.

Salary Range

$44,720.00 - $44,720.00
