Commercial Construction Superintendent – Healthcare & Life Sciences The Superintendent directs the workflow of the project on site in accordance with the project schedule, HITT safety and quality standards, and acts as the liaison between project team members to promote the interests of both the business and clients. The Superintendent communicates project priorities to site staff and subcontractors and serves as the primary leader on site for the construction project. Responsibilities Understand and administer the HITT safety program to include all subcontractors, ensuring that all accidents/incidents are promptly reported and investigated, and assist in safety inspections by outside agencies. Maintain HITT quality standards for all aspects of the project. Serve as the leader for all on‑site safety, managing a safe jobsite for all involved. Maintain a daily log of all activities and site conditions; manage the punch list and closeout process through owner/architect acceptance. Work with the project manager in formulating the project schedule, ensuring proper methods and sequence of installation are followed, make and follow through with schedule commitments, and maintain HITT quality standards. Maintain good working relationships with all subcontractors on the project and develop relationships within the community to enhance business opportunities, treating subcontractors fairly. Ensure complete, accurate daily documentation of work orders/tickets, understand subcontractor scope of work to avoid unnecessary change orders, identify problems early, and act immediately to provide solutions. Develop and organize the site team, arrange for temporary facilities/utilities for the site, and identify long‑lead items that need to be expedited. Collaborate with the project manager and site operations team throughout the life of the project. Qualifications A four‑year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred; additional work experience may substitute for a degree. 5+ years’ experience in commercial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractor, tenant renovations, service work, work in occupied spaces, weekend work, fast‑paced project experience – all are a plus. Mastery of building processes and best practices. Ability to organize necessary resources, including people, tools, and time, to meet tight deadlines and achieve desired results. Project lead experience preferred; prior superintendent or project lead experience preferred. Proficiency with sector/project‑specific software systems (Microsoft Office suite, ProCore, Adobe, BlueBeam, OSHA 30 Certification preferred). Ability to walk and/or stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. Strong communication skills – clear, concise, professional writing and verbal skills, with a focus on audience‑appropriate business communication. Positive attitude, passion for construction, and ability to gather data, interpret it, and communicate insights effectively. Organize and manage tasks and priorities with integrity consistent with the HITT Way and core values. Seek continuous improvement of knowledge and abilities; exercise flexibility with evolving technology, design, and methods. Collaborate with people of various backgrounds and styles, creating and maintaining relationships with colleagues, clients, subcontractors, and vendors. In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, section RCW 49.58.110, the base salary range for this position is $99,000.00 – $150,700.00, with variations by city and state.
