The Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a motivated research intern to join our interdisciplinary research team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work in a highly collaborative research environment at the intersection of biomedical engineering, medicine, and physics.

Our laboratory develops novel biomedical imaging tools and analysis techniques to study mucociliary transport in the airways. These approaches are used to better understand how defects in mucociliary transport contribute to the pathogenesis of airway diseases. In parallel, our lab uses CRISPR gene editing, primary human airway cell models, and porcine models to investigate the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying airway disease.

This position provides opportunities to build qualitative, quantitative, and critical thinking skills while working alongside researchers, engineers, and physician-scientists. Under the direction of investigators, interns will contribute to basic science research through experimental design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

Potential areas of training may include:
