Embedded Software Engineer

Embedded Software Engineer Location: Mossville, IL ZIP 61552 • Duration: 24 months • Pay Rate: $51.21 per hour (pay range varies with experience) • Start Date: Immediate Summary The main function of an embedded software engineer is to apply principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of embedded software and systems that enable computers to function. The engineer researches, designs, develops, and tests operating‑system level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific, and general computing applications. Responsibilities Design and implement software for embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment. Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions. Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources. Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project. Skills Strong verbal and written communication, problem‑solving, customer service and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components. Understanding of the full software development lifecycle (analysis, requirements, functional specification, development, testing, delivery). Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes to resolve problems. Knowledge of computer hardware and software. Solid programming experience in C or C++. Knowledge of development software for embedded systems (SQL, VisualBasic, etc.).
