Senior Lead Software Engineer

Join a high-performance agile team maintaining and improving governance technology products.As a Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology Office, you will contribute to a high-performance agile team designing and delivering trusted, mission critical distributed technology products in a secure, reliable, and scalable way.The access governance engineering team is maintaining and enhancing an access control system that is an integral part of business operations at JP Morgan Chase. Operations within this system are complex and involve collaboration across multiple teams on different time schedules.We are looking for passionate engineers with broad exposure to multiple technologies, driven by the desire to learn, to understand, to invent, and to push boundaries. Job responsibilitiesDecompose technical problems and build loosely coupled, highly cohesive solutions. Implement solutions with an eye for detail and a passion for quality code.Contribute to a team culture of mutual respect and active ownership.Be a constant learner who is ready to question the status quo and to solve problems creatively.Drives adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.Required qualifications, capabilities, and skillsGreat verbal and written communication skillsStrong software engineering fundamentals and programming skillsDemonstrated experience in Java development and with distributed computing Experience with prompt engineeringDemonstrated experience leading effective use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and securityStrong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers/leads on compliant usage patterns and controls.Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skillsAdvanced knowledge of refactoring techniques, domain‑driven design, and object‑oriented design patterns; experience evolving legacy codebases safely.Experience designing and implementing distributed services and event driven architectures.Experience with GoLang or Rust programming languages.Experience with semantic models, knowledge graphsExperience with formal proofs JPMorganChase, one of the oldest financial institutions, offers innovative financial solutions to millions of consumers, small businesses and many of the world’s most prominent corporate, institutional and government clients under the J.P.
