Key Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient outcomes and makes changes to the plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of respiratory care
• Provides respiratory care as ordered by physician, maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff
• Provides explanation and instructions to patients and/or responsible persons regarding respiratory disease processes, intervention procedures, and discharge planning
• Shares clinical knowledge with staff and students and serves as a role model for clinical practice
• Accepts reassignment to other units when necessary

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Active Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner License required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working within a multidisciplinary care team environment
• Experience providing patient and family education related to respiratory disease processes and treatment
