Full-Time Assistant Bookkeeper

Cranbury, NJ | 100% On-Site | Long-Term Opportunity | $30-$32/Hour

Are you a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys variety in your day and thrives in a role where you can contribute across multiple areas of the business? Our client is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Assistant Bookkeeper to join their team in Cranbury, NJ.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being a true "jack-of-all-trades" within an accounting department. The ideal candidate will support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and general accounting administration while working closely with leadership and other departments.

Responsibilities

• Process Accounts Payable, including invoice entry, coding, and vendor payments
• Manage Accounts Receivable functions, customer billing, cash applications, and collections
• Assist with payroll processing and related recordkeeping
• Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Enter and verify accounting data with a high degree of accuracy
• Assist with expense reports, journal entries, and month-end activities
• Generate reports and support general accounting projects
• Maintain organized electronic and paper filing systems
• Provide clerical and administrative support to the accounting department
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient day-to-day operations
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

• 3+ years of bookkeeping, accounting clerk, or general accounting experience
• Strong understanding of AP, AR, payroll, and account reconciliations
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
• Strong work ethic and willingness to assist in all areas of accounting

Preferred

• Prior experience within real estate, property management, construction, or a related industry is helpful but not required
• Experience supporting a small-to-mid-sized accounting department is a plus
