Dental Sterilization Technician

Responsible for all necessary steps for proper decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and packaging of instruments and equipment. Supports decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and packaging of instruments and equipment as needed. Completely and thoroughly disassembles instruments and equipment to ensure the removal of any debris and surgical soil prior to sterilization or high-level disinfection. Performs multi-step procedures to effectively reprocess various instruments, including autoclaving. Performs and validates all cleaning of instruments using established policies and procedures, along with manufacturers' instructions for use and applicable guidelines. Maintains records for all sterilization procedures processed, including biological monitoring and quality assurance checks to ensure sterilization parameters are met. Effectively communicates with providers and staff to problem-solve in the event of an instrument shortage and offers alternatives as needed. Verifies that equipment functions properly and requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair, or replacement. Maintains competency in sterilization reprocessing through return demonstrations and participation in continuing education. Assists in the training and certification of team members on sterilization processes as needed. Performs additional supply handling duties for specialty and primary care as time permits. Duties include product ordering, stocking, inventory checks, and other basic inventory management functions as needed. Knowledge of infection control is preferred. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and care/cleaning is strongly preferred. Knowledge of sterile techniques is preferred. Knowledge of inventory management is preferred. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Self-motivated individuals are preferred. Project ownership is essential. Advanced levels of hand-eye coordination skills are required. Working-level organizational skills are needed. Basic computer skills are required. Only applicants that live at least 50+ miles away from the facility will be considered.
