Dependent on business needs, some roles have remote work and flexible schedule options with manager approval.## What You’ll DoThe City and County of Denver (CCD) has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Community Engagement Associate with the Denver Clerk and Recorder. Join our team of dedicated public servants to support meaningful engagement of Denver residents and partners across a variety of important city and county functions.The Community Engagement Associate will support the following key areas of work:* Community Engagement Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation/Reporting* Partner Identification, Cultivation, and Collaboration* Presentation Development and Public Speaking* Attendance at Community Outreach Events* Special Event Coordination* Team Building and Collaboration* Cross-Agency Support## Responsibilities* Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners, including nonprofit organizations, schools and universities, community groups and leaders, city agencies and employees, and elected officials.* Attend community outreach events that advance DCR’s mission which includes staffing for agency tables/booths to distribute information, answer questions, and register people to vote.* Develop and deliver external presentations on various DCR topics, attend community meetings and planning sessions, and staff Clerk López for official functions and speaking engagements.* Partner with the community engagement team to plan and deliver election-specific events such as town halls, candidate forums, ballot parties, and a *State of Denver Elections* annual event.* Serve as the lead contact for Democratic and Republican House Districts, Registered Neighborhood Organizations (RNOs), Denver Housing Authority, and labor organizations.* Serve as the community engagement liaison for Denver’s Fair Elections Fund, which is administered by the Denver Clerk & Recorder.* Collaborate with DCR staff to identify the community engagement needs of various departments/divisions and opportunities for collaboration; contribute to the development of corresponding action plans. These may include confined (jail) voting, election judge recruitment, support for marriage marathon events, voter registration efforts, etc.* Develop partnerships with Denver’s major league sporting teams to host civic engagement events in the lead up to Denver elections.* Support the tracking and documentation of community engagement activities and assist with measuring and evaluating outputs and outcomes.* Serve as a conduit for community input and recommend strategies for improvement related to departmental direction, policy actions, and communications based on public feedback.* Contribute to the development of an annual community engagement work plan and corresponding goals.## What You’ll BringStrong candidates will have experience working alongside diverse neighborhoods and populations and exhibit the following competencies: * Community Partnership: Engages with constituents and partners as co-creators; prioritizes accessibility, listens to and values lived experience, and ensures that service delivery is culturally responsive and honors the dignity of all community members.* Consensus Building: Shares information to build collective power and negotiates outcomes that prioritize the needs of historically underserved communities.* Equity-Informed Problem Solving: Identifies root causes of issues while considering systemic inequities. Goes beyond technical understanding to apply insights that are sensitive to the socio-political context of the community.* Accessible Communication: Communicates with clarity, transparency, and cultural humility; develops messages to ensure language and physical accessibility and avoids jargon that creates barriers.Our ideal candidate will have:* At least 2 years of experience in a community engagement or community organizing role* Experience with working with multi-cultural groups with diverse backgrounds* Ability to lift, set up, and tear down materials such as tables, tents, and signage (30–40 lbs).* Must be comfortable engaging community members who may have election-related concerns or fears; strong communication and public-speaking/relationship-building skills helpful.* Must be willing to work flexible schedules, including regular evenings/weekends during election season (up to 2–4 events/week)Minimum Qualifications* Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s).* Experience Requirement: Three (3) years’ experience performing full performance professional level duties within a specialized, functional area.
