Johnson Service Group is seeking a skilled Materials Planner for a 6-month contract position in the Euclid, OH area.

Selected candidates MUST be a US Person / Citizen and MUST provide an available start date, DOB (MM/DD), and the last 4 digits of SSN in order to have their resume submitted to the client company.

This position requires a criminal background check as well as a drug screen. Candidates must not have any felony charges or convictions.

Contract Duration: 6-month contract, may extend up to a year or lead to full-time conversion based on business needs

Description

The primary purpose of this position is to conduct mechanical and electrical testing to meet the demands of Eaton’s engineering departments to achieve product development, sustainment, and certification goals. This position will perform functions necessary to support product development and maintenance of line activities which include assembly of products and test setups. Additional requirements will be to help maintain lab test equipment, track test request status, and samples. This position will need to support all EHS requirements and 5S initiatives.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct various electrical tests in accordance with UL, CSA, IEC and NEMA standards for electrical distribution products, as required, to meet the product development and sustaining testing demands. Maintain knowledge of applicable IEC, UL, and NEMA testing standards.
• Record accurate test data on standardized forms for delivery to the project engineer.
• Assist in the repair and replacement of test fixtures and maintain an active list of test fixtures on hand to meet the demands of the engineering department.
• Contribute to organizing and maintaining lab 5S environment to meet goals and to ensure maximum efficiency.
• Assist in the development and enforcement of safety requirements.
• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time to increase the efficiency in the lab and provide engineering on time test results.
• Share knowledge with other technicians as necessary to improve technician pool’s core knowledge and capabilities.
• Complete additional assignments or tasks requested by manager.
• Conduct pre and post calibrations, run dielectric/thermal testing.
• Circuit configurations, and vibration testing.

Basic Qualifications:

• Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• In addition, the levels of responsibility require 1-3 years of related technical experience.
• Electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software aptitude is required.
• Detailed skill in use of computer for test documentation and analysis are required.

The Beaver facility is a power testing lab where the team performs thermal, overload, endurance, and short-circuit testing on electrical products, ranging from lower-power testing up to extremely high-current testing. The lab supports new product development as well as maintaining certifications to standards such as UL, IEC, and CSA. You would work with Eaton engineering teams and, at times, external customers, so communication and basic Microsoft Office skills are important for documenting and preparing test results.

The position is very hands-on — roughly 60–70% of the job is spent on the lab floor setting up test circuits, using hand tools such as wrenches and impact guns, troubleshooting electrical components, and performing testing. The remaining 30–40% is more administrative, including managing schedules, responding to emails, and completing test documentation.

They are open to entry-level candidates and are more interested in a strong technical/mechanical background than a specific degree. Trade school or hands-on experience in areas such as automotive repair, HVAC, electrical work, or mechanical troubleshooting could translate well to the position. Previous laboratory experience is not required, and an engineering degree is welcome but not necessary. Being able to read blueprints or electrical schematics is a plus but not required.

The position does require the ability to lift approximately 35–50 lbs, with team assistance available for heavier items. There may also be some forklift operation, but Eaton provides the required internal certification training.

Overall, they are looking for someone who enjoys hands-on troubleshooting and working with electrical/mechanical equipment, and who is comfortable splitting their time between physical lab work and documentation.
