EMT - PRN

As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT Basic) you will be part of an emergency care team providing basic life support in prehospital settings or in the emergency department. Responsibilities Respond to dispatch information and drive emergency vehicles to specified locations within applicable norms. Stabilize injured or ill patients by extricating them, rendering first aid, and relaying status to medical personnel. Utilize medical equipment and procedures, including defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR, and other medications, to provide advanced medical care. Recognize any changes in the patient's health condition or treatment effects and report them promptly. Maintain vehicle supplies, communications equipment, and medical equipment in accordance with applicable standards. Keep vehicles and equipment clean, organized, stocked, and sanitized before each trip; use proper PPE when cleaning spills. Operate communications equipment, medical equipment, cleaning equipment, office equipment, and tools as required. Document patient care and billing activities thoroughly to ensure accurate records for each call. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an EMT-B. Licensed in Louisiana as an EMT-B. Valid chauffeur’s license or equivalent. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Preferred: 1 year of experience as an EMT Basic. Defensive driving course certification (preferred).
