Senior Human Resource Generalist

Manage the full payroll process for multiple entities and pay groups, from gathering and reviewing payroll inputs through submission and post-payroll reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established procedures. Review and validate timecards, earnings, stipends, deductions, benefit contributions, and employee changes. Research discrepancies and make necessary corrections prior to payroll submission. Serve as a primary resource for routine payroll questions, investigating and resolving employee concerns while partnering with Finance and the payroll provider as needed. Maintain payroll calendars, procedures, system records, and supporting documentation. Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and special payroll projects. Recruiting & Candidate Coordination Partner with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process, including creating requisitions, posting positions, reviewing applicants, conducting HR phone screens, coordinating interviews, and communicating with candidates. Maintain accurate recruiting records and document hiring decisions and communications within the applicant tracking system. Prepare offer letters and new hire employment materials following required compensation and hiring approvals. Coordinate reference checks, background screenings, education verifications, and position‑specific credentials or certifications. Onboarding & New Employee Orientation Coordinate the onboarding process from offer acceptance through the employee's initial period, ensuring completion of required paperwork, employment eligibility verification, system access, and other onboarding requirements. Lead new employee orientation, providing information on organizational practices, HR resources, benefits, payroll, timekeeping, and employee self‑service. Partner with supervisors and IT to ensure new employees are prepared for their first day and follow up on outstanding onboarding items. Training & Employee Support Develop and provide employee and manager training related to payroll systems, timekeeping, onboarding, and HR procedures. Create and maintain training materials, job aids, and related resources while tracking completion of required training. Assist employees with payroll system navigation, access issues, and self‑service functions, working with IT or the payroll provider when additional assistance is required. Travel to off‑site locations approximately 10% of the time to meet with employees, provide training, answer questions, and assist with HR‑related documentation. Provide timely and professional employee support while consistently communicating established policies and procedures. Escalate complex matters to the Director of Human Resources when appropriate. HR Administration & Compliance Support Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records and assist with employee changes, employment verifications, separations, audits, and required HR reporting. Support benefits administration, leave administration, and employee relations activities as needed and under the direction of the Director of Human Resources. Maintain and monitor required credentials and documentation for applicable positions, including child care‑related records and driver approvals. Identify opportunities to improve HR and payroll processes, maintain accurate procedures, and assist with special projects and other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong payroll knowledge with excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, including the ability to research discrepancies and clearly explain payroll‑related information. Working knowledge of employment and payroll practices, HR procedures, and confidential records management. Strong communication, training, and employee service skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees and managers from diverse backgrounds. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently while exercising sound judgment and discretion. Ability to recognize situations requiring additional guidance, approval, or escalation. Proficiency with HR and payroll systems, Microsoft Office, and Excel, including data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of five years of hands‑on payroll processing experience, including payroll review, reconciliation, and resolution of employee payroll issues. General HR experience alone does not meet this requirement. Demonstrated experience in recruiting, new hire onboarding, employee training, and new employee orientation. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. Ability to travel to off‑site locations approximately 10% of the time. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Paycom preferred, but not required. Experience with other integrated HR and payroll systems will be considered. Experience supporting multiple entities or pay groups, preferably within a nonprofit, education, or school environment. SHRM-CP, PHR, payroll certification, or other relevant professional certification is a plus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
