Storm Duty Requirements Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company's rules and procedures. Senior Database Administrator (Lead) Title: Sr. Database Administrator, Progression Company: Tampa Electric Company Location: Bearss Operations Center, Tampa, Florida Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days Hiring Manager: Nathan Campbell Performance Coach: Manager, Application Development & Support (AD&S) Title: Associate Database Administrator Reports To: Manager, Application Development & Support (AD&S); Lead Database Administrator Entry‑level Database Administrator (DBA) position that supports a limited number of databases with frequent supervision. Position Concept (Senior DBA) Designs, implements, and maintains all components of Database Management Systems (DBMSs). Responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring database‑related projects and maintenance activities. Develops and implements database strategies that support corporate‑wide access to business data. Storm Duty Perform on‑call support to troubleshoot database problems on a twenty‑four hours a day, seven days a week basis. Participate with other members of the Database Administration (DBA) staff in ensuring primary and secondary/backup support is always available for critical TECO Energy databases. Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Associate DBA) Perform database‑related activities in support of development projects or off‑the‑shelf software implementations. Identify opportunities to reduce data‑redundancy and utilize single sources of data. Support systems development staff in understanding application data requirements and developing logical database models. Convert logical database designs to physical database models and develop the Data Definition Language (DDL) to create appropriate database objects. Implement appropriate database backup and recovery strategies with oversight from more senior DBA staff. Perform database recovery and restoration as instructed. Provide on‑call support to troubleshoot database problems on a twenty‑four hours a day, seven days a week basis. Participate with other members of the Database Administration (DBA) staff in ensuring primary and secondary/backup support is always available for critical TECO Energy databases. Perform database monitoring and tuning activities to ensure optimal performance and response time. Provide support to systems development staff (and others performing similar functions outside of IT) in efficient SQL coding techniques for optimum database and application performance. Maintain knowledge of existing and emerging database technologies. Maintain sufficient knowledge of TECO Energy business processes and systems. Participate in upgrades to DBMSs including impact analysis, testing, data conversion, and implementation. Participate in data integration tasks for application‑specific data access and data warehousing. Enforce database standards and procedures for primary DBMS products in use at TECO Energy. Maintain requisite knowledge of all standard operating systems in use at TECO Energy necessary to perform the DBA function. Qualifications (Associate DBA) Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline. Licenses/Certifications: None required; holding a Microsoft or Oracle database administration certification is preferred. Experience: Minimum of four years of direct work experience in database administration; other IT experience may be considered. Knowledge/Skills: Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle RDBMS. Working Conditions: Working in an office environment. Provide consulting and support to systems development staff (and others performing similar functions outside of IT) in efficient SQL coding techniques for optimum database and application performance. Considered an expert in Structured Query Language (SQL) for relevant DBMS products. Maintain knowledge of existing and emerging database technologies and recommend adoption of new technologies where appropriate. Evaluate and recommend database‑related products, services, and procedures to enhance productivity and effectiveness. Must maintain sufficient knowledge of TECO Energy business processes and systems. Participate in projects that ensure the ongoing integrity of all corporate‑wide databases and database architecture.
