Commercial Lines Insurance Account Manager, Small Business Unit

General Description The Account Manager manages a book of insurance business, acting with high discretion, autonomy, and decision‑making. They provide professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues, achieving a retention rate that meets or exceeds expectations. They also support Producers in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business, and may be responsible for account rounding and developing new business as appropriate. Duties Makes decisions on books of insurance that they are responsible for. Works closely with Producers and HUB personnel on all aspects of client service, marketing, and renewal, adhering to HUB’s best practices and procedures. Oversees the preparation and implementation of all transactions, paperwork, and internal processing for assigned accounts. Acquires understanding of clients’ insurance objectives and critically analyzes and compares insurance plans to determine suitability. Stays abreast of industry changes that may impact clients. Makes recommendations to clients in response to changes independent of manager approval. Acts as liaison between clients and insurers to resolve escalated complex service issues requiring policy interpretation and judgment. Negotiates with underwriters and carriers when appropriate. Troubleshoots claims and billing issues. Maintains overall retention of accounts. Develops new business from existing accounts and leads, and contributes to departmental production goals. Identifies and follows up on cross‑selling opportunities. Manages, organizes, and conducts client meetings when necessary. Documents conversations with clients and carriers and updates all HUB computer systems and automated agency management systems. Ensures accuracy of data in those systems. Travels on company business as required. Prepares reports for management as required. Attends industry‑related continuing education training and courses. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Requirements At least 3 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in an insurance account management role in required lines; brokerage experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent oral and written English communication skills. Superior customer service and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office and automated agency management systems. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work a regular, full‑time schedule at HUB’s facilities and to travel on business when required. Currently licensed in good standing in required lines and states. Current with all necessary CE credits in required lines and states. Employment Information Required Experience: 2‑5 years of relevant experience. Required Travel: Negligible.
