Student Activities Director

Description

The Director of Student Activities will perform duties related tothe operations of the Office of Student Activities. The Directorwill serve as a Campus Security Authority.

Duties/Responsibilities

Programming

  • Advise the Student Government Association (SGA), attend allregular and executive council meetings, and coordinate studentelections
  • Advise the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and attend all regularand executive council meetings
  • Develop appropriate in-service leadership training for studentleaders and prospective student leaders
  • Collaborate with faculty members and staff to plan, organizeand implement co-curricular programs that support the University’scommon and program learning outcomes and contribute to theeducational experience of its students
  • Coordinate club and organization registration, leadershipworkshops, and various events around club and organizationinvolvement

Supervisory

  • Supervise and mentor the:
  • Dance and Cheer Team coaches
  • SGA Members
  • CAB Members
  • Club and Organizations
  • Student Affairs Coordinator

Budgetary

  • Responsible for all expenditures for the Student Activitybudget pertaining to student programs and programming
  • Supervise Student Club accounts
  • Supervise Academic Grant accounts

Promotional

  • Responsible for the production and distribution of the Studenthandbook/agenda
  • Supervise printed promotional material for Student Activityevents, including but not limited to activity calendars, posters,and publications

    Supportive Services

    • Assist with all START VU Programs
    • Assist faculty and academic areas in the application processfor academic grants
    • Assist with Commencement activities

    Required Skills/Abilities

    • Ability to successfully interact with a diverse student bodyand campus constituencies
    • Higher Education work experience in Student Affairs
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated experience in the objective decision-making
    • Ability to provide coaching and mentoring in student leadershipand development
    • Student programming

    Education, Experience, Licensure

    • A Master's degree, with minimum of two years of full timeadministrative/professional experience, in the preferred area of;Student Affairs, Public Administration, or a related field, or, A Bachelor's degree, with minimum of five years of full timeadministrative/professional experience, in the preferred area of;Student Affairs, Public Administration, or related field
