Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15), every other weekend required (minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)

Highlights:

• High-volume birthing unit averaging 300+ births per month with approximately 20 births and 30-40 admits per 24-hour period
• Fast-paced environment providing comprehensive intrapartum, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum obstetrical care for patients 16 weeks gestation and greater
• 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio with double labor assignments occurring daily; unit features 20 rooms with integrated obstetrical triage
• Epic charting system with Pyxis medication management; 24-hour orientation provided
• Contract options available for 13-26 weeks with no call requirement
• May float to Special Maternity Care high-risk OB unit as needed; scrubs provided

Requirements:

• Active North Carolina or Compact state RN license
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required; 3 years strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in high-volume birthing centers with 300+ births per month is essential
• Current certifications: BLS, AWHONN Intermediate (or C-EFM), and NRP
• Competency in circulating for Cesarean sections, sterile vaginal exams, and immediate newborn care
• Proficiency with Epic charting system required
• Experience with scheduled/unscheduled Cesarean births, obstetrical triage, and high-acuity patients
• First-time travelers accepted if experienced in similar high-volume settings
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Patient Population & Procedures:

This unit cares for obstetrical patients 16 weeks gestation and greater, providing comprehensive intrapartum care as well as high-risk antepartum and postpartum services. The integrated triage unit screens patients prior to admission and performs routine outpatient procedures including antenatal fetal surveillance, intravenous hydration, and medication administration. Nurses participate in scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and assist with rescue cervical cerclage procedures.

Pre-approved time off is limited to 7 days maximum and must be arranged prior to contract signing. Additional requests after booking are not permitted. Pre-start online modules (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care) must be completed before your first shift using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. All pre-employment testing must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
