Robert Half is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a AI Architect (contract). In this role, you will define and guide the design of next-generation AI-powered platform capabilities. This role will focus on building scalable, production-ready architectures for intelligent systems, working closely with data science, engineering, and platform teams. This role is onsite in Austin, Tx. Key Responsibilities:Define architectural standards and system designs for AI-enabled applications, including orchestration, context management, state handling, tool integration, and reliability frameworks.Author technical design documentation, architecture standards, and decision records that guide engineering teams.Develop proof-of-concept solutions and prototypes to validate architectural approaches before large-scale implementation.Partner with data science and engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities with APIs, event-driven systems, data platforms, and enterprise applications.Review and provide guidance on architecture proposals, ensuring scalability, reliability, and alignment with engineering standards.Drive cross-functional alignment on technical strategy and architectural decisions.Help establish best practices for AI-assisted software development and modern engineering workflows.Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders on architecture, distributed systems, and AI application design.Communicate technical strategies, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to executive stakeholders and customer-facing teams.
