Dermatologist (MD), Clinical Image Interpretation and AI Evaluation [Remote]

Role Overview

Apply dermatology expertise to help establish clinically sound standards for image based AI systems. This non clinical position involves interpreting images, annotating cases, and evaluating AI generated dermatological assessments. There is no direct patient care or responsibility for live diagnosis.

Dermatology is highly dependent on image interpretation, yet model performance can vary across skin tones and uncommon presentations. Your clinical judgment will help define the reference standards used to assess these systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret dermatological cases that combine clinical images and patient history, documenting diagnostic reasoning as well as the final impression.
• Annotate lesions using a defined schema, including morphology, color, configuration, distribution, and body site.
• Develop ranked differentials with supporting reasoning and assess severity or progression from images.
• Review AI generated assessments against clinical standards, identifying hallucinated or missed findings and unsupported certainty.
• Create grading criteria and guidance that distinguish excellent assessments from acceptable ones and support consistent evaluation at scale.
• Write challenging cases that test current model reasoning, including presentations across varied skin tones.

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completed dermatology residency.
• Board certified by the ABD or an equivalent certifying body in your jurisdiction, or board eligible with residency complete.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in your country of practice.
• At least 3 years of post residency clinical dermatology experience, current or prior.
• Ability to identify and describe dermatological conditions precisely using medical terminology across the full range of skin tones.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fellowship training or focused practice in dermatopathology, pediatric dermatology, surgical dermatology, or complex medical dermatology.
• U.S. licensure and board certification.
• Experience with medical image annotation, AI evaluation, or dataset curation.
• Experience teaching, designing rubrics, or assessing residents.
• Published research or sustained technical writing, with a link to a sample.

Work Terms

• Remote, worldwide hourly engagement.
• Minimum commitment of 15 hours per week, with flexibility to concentrate hours when assigned to a time boxed workstream.
• Tasks range from approximately 10 minutes for structured annotation to up to one hour for full case authoring. A throughput target will be provided for the assigned workstream.
• You will join a shared expert pool and, after onboarding, may be matched to concurrent workstreams based on subspecialty, availability, and interest. Workstream assignments may change as priorities shift.

Compensation

$270 per hour.

Candidates must meet the stated medical degree, residency, certification or board eligibility, active unrestricted licensure, clinical experience, and English fluency requirements.
