Senior UX Designer

Job Summary:

The Senior UX Designer will be responsible for creating user-friendly, visually appealing, and effective interfaces across various digital platforms. This role involves designing overall product functionality to ensure exceptional user experiences through iterative testing and user research. The designer will collaborate closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, and innovative digital solutions optimized for multiple devices. Responsibilities:

• Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces.
• Design overall product functionality to ensure great user experience and iterate based on user testing.
• Design user interfaces for projects including digital displays, publications, media, and other creative materials.
• Apply a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate designs.
• Conduct user research, interviews, and surveys, translating findings into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Facilitate client product vision through research, sketching, prototyping, and user testing.
• Identify design problems and devise elegant, strategic solutions.
• Gather user feedback to refine and configure existing interfaces.
• Manage competing priorities and maintain strong client relationships.
• Lead UX projects and design workshops with stakeholders and business users.

Required Skills:

• Relevant experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction and performance.
• Experience as a UX designer, interactive designer, or UI designer for web and mobile applications.
• Ability to define and lead UX projects and design workshops.
• Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Canva.
• Thorough understanding of web development technologies and their limitations.
• Experience conducting end-to-end user research and translating it into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
• Strong communication skills to convey design concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including developers and QA specialists.
• Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities effectively.

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of accessibility testing and designing to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
• Experience working with the Ontario Design System and Digital Service Standard.
• Experience handling complex design challenges involving legacy systems and nuanced stakeholder relationships.
• Prior public sector or Ontario Public Service (OPS) experience.

Must Haves:
