The Safety Manager leads ESi’s health and safety program across all locations, working with leadership, employees, and Site Safety Coordinators to keep safety practical, compliant, and connected to the work we do. This role oversees the IIPP, supports OSHA, client, and regulatory compliance, and helps strengthen safety practices, training, audits, incident reviews, root-cause analysis, workers’ compensation compliance, corrective actions, and project-specific safety planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Senior Leadership to build a practical, sustainable safety training path for the firm.
• Provide safety leadership and direction while balancing compliance, risk, client expectations, and the realities of the business.
• Serve as the main point of contact for safety questions and help leadership and project teams work through client, regulatory, and firm requirements.
• Provide guidance, training, and coaching to Site Safety Coordinators across the country.
• Review, recommend, and develop safety practices and procedures that fit ESi’s work and business needs.
• Develop and implement safety orientation and ongoing training based on employee roles, project risks, client needs, and applicable requirements.
• Conduct safety inspections and audits to confirm compliance and identify practical ways to improve.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, client requirements, and ESi safety standards.
• Turn regulatory and industry requirements into clear, usable practices that support field work, client service, and good business decisions.
• Ensure completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
• Provide technical and administrative support to the safety committee.
• Review incident reports, support root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to help
• prevent similar incidents.
• Develop and support corrective action plans and document the effectiveness of safety control
• measures across the firm.
• Identify needed PPE resources and establish a consistent process for offices to procure, maintain, and monitor required PPE on-site.
• Bring outside safety experience and best practices that can help ESi strengthen and mature its safety program.
• Build relationships with industry associations, vendors, consultants, and other external resources that support benchmarking, training, and program improvement.
• 30% - 50% Travel.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.

Experience Required:

• At least 7+ years of progressive occupational health and safety experience required, preferably with responsibility for a multi-site safety program.
• Experience advising leaders and helping the business make practical safety decisions preferred.
• Experience in professional services, engineering, consulting, industrial, construction, manufacturing, environmental, laboratory, forensic, or field-services environments preferred.
• Strong ability to balance regulatory compliance, client requirements, employee safety, and business needs.
• Experience bringing outside safety practices, industry benchmarks, and practical program improvements into an organization preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
• Must be competent in the following:

• Applicable Certificates and designations for area of expertise

Computer Skills:

• Advanced skills in Microsoft suite of software especially Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Ability to leverage Microsoft Teams and SharePoint in a collaborative environment.
• Advanced skills in Adobe Acrobat.

• Proficient in internet research and database programs.

The pay range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of the compensation we expect to offer most candidates for this role. Total compensation includes a competitive base salary and bonus opportunity, with final pay determined by job-related factors such as experience, qualifications, individual performance, and overall company performance.

After internal discussions and market research, the current pay band for this opportunity is $118,000 to $135,000.

This role requires sitting for extended periods of time and the ability to stand and walk as needed throughout the workday. The position involves regular computer-based work and use of standard office equipment. This role may occasionally require lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds.
