Diesel Technician Mechanic

Ryder is hiring a Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Greenville, South Carolina. The position offers weekly pay, a range of benefits, and opportunities for career growth. Key Details Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour Certification Bonus: up to $700 for each new ASE certification Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday (Second Shift Tuesday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.; Saturday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO in first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training to keep you ahead Safety‑first workplace & state‑of‑the‑art equipment Top Tech Competition: Earn $250 – $50,000 per year U.S. military veterans receive an extra paid day off 15 % company stock discount Up to $5,000 in tech tuition repayment 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred Vocational or technical certification, or post‑secondary degree preferred Basic tools required Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) Two or more years of combined classroom training and work experience preferred Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire Must pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Conduct standard vehicle and component inspections and repairs Perform preventive maintenance Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers where applicable Identify root cause of basic failures or conditions and perform required repairs Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints upon task assignment Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support Ryder is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a Drug‑Free workplace.
