Physical Therapist

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist provides comprehensive evaluations and treatments to adult outpatient populations to improve functional abilities. This role involves developing and implementing individualized therapy plans, supervising support staff, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and educating patients and families to promote self-care and rehabilitation. The Physical Therapist ensures compliance with regulatory standards and documentation requirements while contributing to clinic operations and quality assurance activities. Responsibilities:

• Conduct general physical therapy evaluations and treatments for a diverse adult outpatient population.
• Develop, implement, and modify therapy treatment plans based on patient assessments and responses.
• Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, students, interns, and other designated staff.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and participate in care conferences and team meetings.
• Document patient encounters, diagnoses, treatment plans, recommendations, and prognoses according to policy.
• Provide clear and concise home exercise programs and patient/family education to facilitate independence and rehabilitation.
• Assist with acquisition, fitting, and maintenance of durable medical equipment and clinical supplies.
• Maintain clinical space cleanliness and ensure adequate supply levels.
• Stay current with billing procedures and regulatory compliance related to therapy services.
• Participate in administrative duties, clinic operations, specialty/research areas, and quality assurance activities.
• Provide therapy consultations, presentations, and in-services to medical staff and interdisciplinary teams.
• Adhere to American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) practice standards and organizational confidentiality policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Entry-level qualifying master's or doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program, or APTA-approved Physical Therapy graduate with 2 years of relevant experience and continuing education.
• Current license as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice (Alaska).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid driver's license.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in adult outpatient rehabilitation.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with durable medical equipment fitting and management.
• Experience in clinic operations, specialty areas, or research.
• Strong skills in interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education.

Special Considerations:

• Must have an active Alaska Physical Therapist license at the time of application.
• Start date contingent upon fingerprint processing and clearance.
• No housing or transportation provided by the employer; responsibility lies with the agency or employee.
• Compliance with SEARHC confidentiality and quality assurance standards is mandatory.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule and shift assignments to be determined by the facility; typically outpatient clinic hours.
• May include participation in meetings, care conferences, and interdisciplinary rounds during regular business hours.
