This unit consists of 10 beds, with patient ratios varying based on the acuity of care required: ICU: 1:2 PCU: 1:4 MST: 1:5-6 (1:3 primary care if no nurse aid available) Licensure and Certifications Candidates must possess the following certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Patient Population and Common Diagnoses The unit serves a diverse patient population with common diagnoses including: Sepsis Suicidal Ideation Drug or Alcohol Withdrawal COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Respiratory Arrest Pneumonia COVID-19 DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis) Blood Pressure or Heart Rate Abnormalities Post-Surgical Complications Qualifications and Experience Requirements Applicants must meet the following experience criteria: At least 2 years of ICU experience, or 1 year of ICU and 1 year of PCU/Med-Surg experience in larger facilities with strong clinical skills. Clinical Responsibilities Registered Nurses in this role are expected to: Titrate medication drips, including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin, as necessary. Utilize EKG monitoring, with proficiency in 12-lead EKGs for ICU patients. Collaborate with Respiratory Therapy for equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP. Monitor patients through bedside cardiac monitors. Work Environment and Conditions Shifts will generally consist of 12-hour blocks, with the following scheduling expectations: Every other weekend requirement Holiday rotation Floating may be required to various units, including adult MST, pediatric units, and West Campus for ICU/PCU competency. Orientation and Training New hires will participate in both hospital and unit-specific orientation to ensure the highest level of competency and integration into the team.
