Chemistry Technician II (Overnight Shift)

Overview We are seeking a Chemistry Laboratory Technician II to perform laboratory analyses, tests, prepare samples, set up instruments, run tests, read and interpret results, and release results in a veterinary diagnostic setting. Work Shift & Compensation Shift: 11:00pm–7:30am, weekends required. Target Pay: $22.00 an hour. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Key responsibilities include: Set up and run laboratory tests. Read and release test results. Prepare and fill all reagents for the analyzer. Keep track of reagent supplies, maintain inventory on lots and expiration dates. Operate and troubleshoot the analyzer. Reconcile pending and queue lists daily. Ensure that manifests submissions are managed properly. Calibrate, run, or enter QC (Quality Controls) into QA software and ensure QC has passed before running and releasing patient samples. Run verifications and perform equipment maintenance activities. Comply with all QA policies and protocols. Report any technical or QC problems to lead tech or supervisor. Follow applicable SOPs, including safety and quality procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Restock supplies as needed. May be cross‑trained to perform other duties, such as fewer complex tests. Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation. Consult with senior peers on non‑complex chemistry tasks to learn through experience. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. A 2‑ or 4‑year degree in a science‑related field is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Laboratory skills/experience, including setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments. Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and chemistry procedures and equipment. General science background. Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills and proficiency in English. Positive, can‑do attitude. Computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office. Working Conditions Stationary position required for up to 2 hours. Requires bending, kneeling, stooping, or crouching, and lifting up to 20lbs. Operates a computer and lab equipment accurately and efficiently. Exposure to agents that may cause zoonotic disease or hazardous chemicals is possible. Work conducted under close to moderate supervision.
