MUST BE A CURRENT EMPLOYEE OF READY MIXED CONCRETE TO BE CONSIDERED Position Overview The Batch Plant Operator is responsible for controlling production and load‑out of materials produced in the batch plant, and for scheduling and ensuring timely delivery of supplies to the plant in accordance with dispatch loading instructions. This relief position covers for the full‑time operator when needed. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Batch concrete loads according to mixed designs and specifications. Read dispatch orders and understand required needs for production of materials. Conduct batching operations efficiently and safely while complying with all local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure compliance with job specifications and all applicable environmental and air quality regulations. Produce on‑time, in‑spec concrete for customers. Maintain efficient working conditions of plant equipment (greasing, sweeping, shoveling, performing repairs, cleaning, and removing jam‑ups). Become proficient in batching, dispatching, and quality control software. Maintain time and material records. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or GED (preferred). 1‑2 years of batching‑related experience (preferred). 1‑2 years of experience in a building materials/construction industry (preferred). Must be 18 years of age or older. Must pass drug screen and criminal background check. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Proficient in use of a computer and able to learn industry programs. Willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as per OSHA and MSHA. Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required. Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally. Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure. Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions. Ability to read and comprehend policies, instructions, site maps, and GPS‑based equipment information. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to take guidance and direction from a supervisor. Physical Requirements Communicate via email, telephone, and in person. Use a computer for word processing, email communication, and document preparation. Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Talk, hear, walk, reach, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls; sit; occasionally stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Vision abilities with correction (close, distance, peripheral, depth; ability to adjust focus). Climb ladders, inclined walkways, access elevated platforms, and work at heights; also work in tight quarters. May require sitting for extended periods. Work Environment Employees are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts, often encountering wet or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold and heat.
