Registered Nurse (RN) - MS/Tele

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced, surgical unit with a focus on orthopedics and joints. This position involves providing care for surgical patients, primarily dealing with total knee replacements, total hip replacements, spinal fusions, hip fractures, ortho trauma, and medical/surgical overflow.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in a fully surgical unit.
• Utilize cardiac monitoring skills, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
• Perform IV therapy and phlebotomy, ensuring peripheral line care and management.
• Manage respiratory needs, including the use of nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management.
• Adhere to isolation precautions and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical Orthopedics.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Experience in MS/Tele environments is required.
• Proficiency in using EPIC and SBAR for patient information documentation.
• Current BLS certification is mandatory.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with total joint replacement and spinal surgery is highly desirable.

Patient Care Details

The average daily census is 34, with a total of 48 rooms/beds available. The unit will require travelers to float as needed when the census drops. No call obligations are included with this position. Weekend availability is expected, with 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule.

Work Environment

Staff will frequently work with specialized equipment, including wound vacs and drains. Scrubs will not be provided; navy blue scrubs are required.

Shift Information

The position offers 36 hours per week, specifically 3x12 hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.

Orientation and Scheduling

Orientation and scheduling will be managed according to unit needs.

Additional Requirements

Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty area.
