Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 About the Opportunity A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller to join its Finance team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role oversees one accounting team member and serves as a key contributor to financial reporting, month-end close, audit preparation, budgeting support, and process improvement initiatives. Please apply below. Maintain the general ledger in accordance with GAAP. Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly financial reports. Support month-end and year-end close processes. Reconcile bank accounts, investments, and balance sheet accounts. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Prepare supporting schedules for audits and financial reporting. Cash Management Monitor cash balances and banking activity. Process electronic payments and transfers. Assist with cash flow monitoring and treasury functions. Maintain accurate records of cash-related transactions. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Review and process vendor payments. Maintain accounts receivable records and monitor collections. Ensure proper coding and documentation of financial transactions. Prepare invoices and billing documentation as needed. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes. Improve workflows, reporting procedures, and internal controls. Support finance system enhancements and modernization initiatives. Document accounting policies and procedures. Leadership Provide guidance and support to accounting staff. Assist with workflow management and departmental priorities. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to support financial operations. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Preferred Nonprofit accounting experience. Experience with Financial Edge. Supervisory experience. Process improvement or systems implementation experience. CPA designation or CPA-track candidate.
