Help shape the future of community-based primary care. Archer Family Health Care is expanding to meet the healthcare needs of our growing community, and we are seeking talented, compassionate, and dedicated professionals to join our team. As part of our expansion, we are adding new positions across clinical, administrative, and operational functions to support enhanced patient access, innovative care delivery, and continued excellence in family-centered healthcare.
Located within the University of Florida College of Nursing, Archer Family Health Care delivers high-quality, evidence-based primary care services while serving as a dynamic clinical learning environment for future healthcare professionals. Our team is committed to improving health outcomes, advancing interprofessional collaboration, and providing exceptional care to individuals and families across the lifespan.
The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) provides comprehensive, patient-centered primary care services at Archer Family Health Care (AFHC), a nurse-led rural health clinic operated by the University of Florida College of Nursing. As a key member of an integrated, interprofessional healthcare team, the ARNP delivers high-quality, evidence-based care to patients across the lifespan, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, wellness, and the management of acute and chronic health conditions.
The ARNP is responsible for independently evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients in accordance with Florida statutes, professional practice standards, clinical guidelines, and organizational policies. Clinical responsibilities include conducting comprehensive health assessments, annual wellness and physical examinations, preventive screenings, and health maintenance visits; diagnosing and treating acute illnesses and injuries; managing chronic diseases; ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests; prescribing medications and therapeutic interventions; and coordinating referrals, follow-up care, and community resources as appropriate.
Working within an integrated model of care, the ARNP collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, behavioral health providers, social workers, students, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized, patient-centered plans of care. The incumbent contributes to improving access to high-quality healthcare services for rural and underserved populations while supporting coordination of care across settings and disciplines.
In addition to direct patient care responsibilities, the ARNP actively participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, provider meetings, care coordination activities, and quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient outcomes, clinic operations, and care delivery processes. The incumbent supports the academic mission of the College of Nursing by serving as a preceptor and clinical educator for graduate nursing students, fostering the development of future healthcare professionals through mentorship, clinical instruction, and evaluation.
This position requires a commitment to clinical excellence, evidence-based practice, interprofessional collaboration, and compassionate, patient-centered care that advances the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities served by Archer Family Health Care.
Comprehensive Patient Assessment, Evaluation, and Documentation
Provide comprehensive primary care services to patients across the lifespan by obtaining detailed medical, social, family, and medication histories; conducting comprehensive and focused physical examinations; assessing health risks and preventive care needs; and evaluating acute and chronic health conditions. Develop differential diagnoses and individualized plans of care based on clinical findings and evidence-based practice guidelines. Accurately document patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, progress notes, procedures, and follow-up recommendations in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance with organizational policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed to achieve optimal health outcomes.
Diagnostic Evaluation, Treatment Planning, and Chronic Disease Management
Order, perform, and interpret laboratory, diagnostic, and screening tests as clinically indicated. Analyze diagnostic findings in conjunction with patient history, physical examination findings, and evidence-based guidelines to formulate diagnoses and treatment recommendations. Communicate test results and treatment options to patients and families and provide education regarding disease management, health promotion, and preventive care. Develop, implement, and manage treatment plans for acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and complex health conditions. Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions in accordance with state regulations and clinical protocols, coordinate referrals to specialty providers, and ensure continuity of care through appropriate follow-up and care coordination activities.
Clinical Procedures and Preventive Health Services
Perform outpatient clinical procedures within the ARNP's scope of practice and demonstrated competency, including but not limited to skin biopsies, lesion removals, cervical cancer screenings and Pap smears, intrauterine device (IUD) insertions and removals, Nexplanon insertions and removals, basic wound repair and suturing, incision and drainage procedures, and other minor office-based procedures as appropriate. Ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and clinical best practices while providing procedural education and follow-up care to patients.
Clinical Education, Precepting, and Mentorship
Serve as a clinical preceptor and educator for graduate nursing students by providing supervision, instruction, mentorship, and evaluation in the delivery of primary care services. Facilitate student learning through clinical teaching, case review, demonstration of advanced clinical skills, and evidence-based practice application. Foster professional development, clinical reasoning, and interprofessional collaboration while supporting the educational mission of the College of Nursing. Provide guidance and feedback to students regarding patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, documentation, and professional practice standards.
Interprofessional Collaboration, Quality Improvement, and Research Activities
Actively participate in monthly interdisciplinary team meetings, provider meetings, case conferences, and care coordination activities to promote high-quality, patient-centered care and efficient clinic operations. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, population health efforts, evidence-based practice projects, and program evaluation activities, including Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) scholarly projects. Collaborate with clinic leadership, faculty, staff, and healthcare professionals to identify opportunities for improving patient outcomes, clinical workflows, access to care, and operational effectiveness.
