We are recruiting on behalf of an established General Contractor seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth across the industrial construction market in Chicago and the wider Midwest.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven individual with strong industry relationships and a proven track record of securing new construction opportunities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing relationships with owners, developers, manufacturers, and key decision-makers, identifying upcoming projects, and building a strong pipeline of industrial construction work.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities across the industrial construction sector.
• Develop and maintain relationships with owners, developers, manufacturers, and corporate clients.
• Target projects across manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, logistics facilities, and other industrial developments.
• Build and manage a pipeline of prospective projects throughout Chicago and the Midwest.
• Lead business development efforts from initial introductions through contract award.
• Attend industry networking events, conferences, and client meetings to strengthen market presence.
• Work closely with estimating, preconstruction, and operations teams to develop competitive project proposals.
• Monitor market trends, upcoming developments, and competitor activity.
• Develop and execute strategic business development plans to support company growth.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to generate repeat business.

Requirements

• Proven experience in business development within commercial or industrial construction.
• Established network of industry contacts across Chicago and the Midwest.
• Strong understanding of industrial construction projects and the general contracting market.
• Demonstrated success in generating leads, developing client relationships, and securing new projects.
• Experience working with owners, developers, and senior-level decision-makers.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of business development activities.
• Background working for a General Contractor, Design-Build Contractor, or industrial construction firm preferred.
