Job Summary
The City of Washington is seeking an energetic, organized, and high-level office professional to serve as our next Finance & Customer Service Specialist . This unique and dynamic position will assist our payroll, accounting, and finance operations while also greeting walk-in residents and visitors, handling front-office administrative tasks and providing high-level phone support. The ideal candidate will deliver flexible, cross-departmental coverage so that both customer-facing and back-office finance functions remain supported.
Key RespONSIBILITIES
- Be a welcoming point of contact for residents - in person and by phone.
- Handle cashiering, utility billing, and service requests, dispatching public service personnel as required.
- Identify and communicate with customers regarding potential leaks and boil orders.
- Cross-train to support payroll processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general finance operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Outgoing, approachable, and relationship-driven.
- 3+ years in customer service, office administration, or finance - municipal experience a bonus, not a requirement.
- A calm, professional presence under pressure and a strong sense of integrity handling cash and records.
- Adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Word and Excel, and quick to pick up new systems.
- Valid Illinois driver's license.
