Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest as an Advanced RN - Critical Care Float. This role offers the opportunity to provide expert nursing care across multiple critical care units, including ICU and Emergency Department, as well as medical surgical units such as Acute Medical Services, Medical Oncology, Surgical Orthopedics, SSU, Acute Rehab, and Transitional Care Facility based on facility needs.

The Critical Care Float Nurse delivers direct patient care by applying the nursing process and demonstrating clinical competence aligned with nursing practice standards and the ANA Code of Ethics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a safe care environment.
• Maintain and care for central lines while preventing surgical site infections according to policy.
• Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and provide patient and family education to promote quality outcomes.
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and inform the healthcare team.
• Document all patient care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and team members to improve patient outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
• Engage with patients and families to enhance their experience and support health education.
• Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited nursing school is required.

Experience:

At least one year of nursing experience is preferred.

Requirements:

• Current RN license in the state or Compact Licensure.
• Graduate nurses must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• American Heart Association Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions:

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
