Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Licensed Clinical Counselor / Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor to provide confidential counseling, crisis intervention, and employee assistance services in support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) workforce. The successful candidate will provide short-term counseling, conduct assessments, respond to critical incidents, deliver resiliency training, and support employee well-being while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.

This position requires an experienced behavioral health professional who can work independently in a secure government environment while collaborating with government leadership, EAP personnel, and community resources to support employee health and mission readiness.

Responsibilities:

• Provide confidential, short-term counseling services (up to six sessions per presenting issue) to NGA Government employees through scheduled and walk-in appointments.
• Deliver counseling services in areas including: 
• Workplace and career concerns
• Emotional and mental health
• Relationship and family dynamics
• Work-life integration
• Health and wellness
• Conduct clinical assessments and crisis interventions as appropriate.
• Screen clients for substance-use disorders and coordinate referrals to treatment services when necessary.
• Assist clients in identifying community resources and long-term treatment options when needs exceed the scope of short-term counseling.
• Respond rapidly to urgent, emergent, and critical incidents requiring on-site EAP intervention.
• Report all urgent and emergency situations to the Government Point of Contact (GPOC) and/or Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) in accordance with established procedures.
• Provide single-session consultations and referral guidance to contractor and military personnel experiencing immediate concerns.
• Support critical incident stress management and employee recovery efforts following workplace events.
• Develop and deliver seminars, briefings, workshops, and presentations on: 
• Mental health awareness
• Resiliency and stress management
• Work-life integration
• Employee wellness
• Other workforce well-being topics
• Support organizational initiatives that promote employee resilience and mission effectiveness.

Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health discipline from an accredited institution.
• Current, unrestricted state licensure as: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional clinical counseling experience.

Required Skills:

• Demonstrated expertise in clinical assessment and crisis intervention.
• Strong short-term counseling and case management skills.
• Knowledge of substance-use screening, intervention, and referral practices.
• Thorough understanding of confidentiality requirements and mandatory disclosure obligations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience presenting information to groups, workshops, or training audiences.
• Current professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
• Ability to successfully complete primary-source verification of licensure and degree, employment verification, and professional reference checks.
• Membership in good standing with the professional organization most appropriate to professional credentials.

Desired Skills:

• Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Previous Employee Assistance Program (EAP) experience.
• Experience supporting federal government, Department of Defense, or Intelligence Community personnel.
• Experience with critical incident stress management and post-incident debriefing.
• Experience delivering resiliency, wellness, and mental health training programs to groups and organizations.

Security Clearance: 

• Active TS clearance with SCI or SCI eligibility.
